The gregarious Dad, the local politician or TV weatherman may have the best of intentions when offering to stand up in front of the audience with a microphone.  However these well meaning individuals are simply not equipped with the skills, knowledge, training or experience to create an environment that ensures an effective and exciting event.  A better and less costly way to accommodate their good intentions is to have them serve as the Master of Ceremonies.  

Without exception an amateur Auctioneer will be the most costly "freebie" your organization receives.

Some groups will mistakenly utilize the services of a commercial Auctioneer. This Auctioneer may offer their services hoping that it will lead to further auction business.  Commercial Auctioneers through necessity sell using a very rapid chant and high pressure.  Your benefit auction audience won't bid if they feel intimidated or cannot understand the Auctioneer.  This translates into lost revenue for your organization.
